Gen Z yellow goes retro at home with Homesense UK

Gen Z yellow( Paid partnership with Homesense UK)

It pains me to say this, but Millennial pink ( my favourite colour) is about to be replaced by the new kid on the block, Gen Z yellow.

Luckily yellow is one of the colours that I love too.

For those not familiar with the term Gen Z, it’s the generation born between 1995 and 2014.

There’s a lot of speculation as to why yellow is the chosen colour. It could be because they are a bolder generation or  perhaps it’s a colour that matches the ‘notice me’ culture seen on social media.

As you can see, I’ve styled a very vibrant party corner in my home, using yellow accessories bought from my local Homesense store.

I’m sure most of you know Homesense by now, but if not, it’s part of the TK Maxx family and has over 50 stores in the U.K.

You can read more about Homesense in my previous post here.Gen Z yellowHaving 2 kids from Gen Z hopefully affords me an insight into how Gen Z yellow could be represented at home.

I’ve noticed that my Gen Z kids love retro brands and logos when they go clothes shopping.

Since fashion trends influence interior trends, I’ve decided to style my Gen Z yellow corner with a cool retro vibe.

I’ve chosen a Pina Colada and banana split party theme since they are both retro ( very 1980s)  and obviously yellow.

I’ve used this orange red trolley £89.99 from Homesense, to contrast and show off the pops of yellow.Standing tall on my trolley is this ceramic blown up yellow dinosaur for £16.99.

It was the first pop of yellow I saw in Homesense, and perfect for adding a party vibe.

I made Pina Colada cocktails with rum, coconut milk and some pineapple syrup I found in Homesense for £4.99.

The cute glasses with gold brush lettering are also from Homesense. They were a bargain at £12.99 for a set of 4, complete with gold straws.I can still clearly remember how delicious banana splits when I was little.

The pair of banana dishes were a steal at £4.99 each.

I must confess I did make some banana split for the photo shoot but the ice cream kept melting.

A party is not a party without some crunchy nibbles right? I bought some spicy snacks which I placed in this £2.99 yellow bowl, another Homesense bargain. As you can see this Pina Colada banana split party has been styled indoors, but it can equally be brought outdoors.

If I had a swimming pool, this is how my chilled poolside party would look. This large pineapple candle at £14.99 smells of fresh pineapples and Citronella, so perfect for a scented outdoor party without those pesky mosquitoes. So there you have it, my Gen Z yellow party at home.

I say bring back Pina Coladas and banana splits.

Hope you’ve enjoyed the post. Do go and check out all those cool Gen Z yellows in Homesense. Have a lovely day.
