3 colourful interiors trends for a home makeover.

Atlas-sofa-Multiyork-1Happy New Year! I’m starting 2016 with an interiors post.

Every year, I spend the Christmas holidays decluttering. Do you do that too? It’s my way of announcing a fresh start.

Once I finish, I get that urge to redecorate, to create a new look in my home.

Maybe it’s just my desire to say goodbye to Winter and hello to Spring.

I have decided on 3 colourful interiors trends for a home makeover, with 3 mood boards.

For the envisaged change, I have used the blue and grey Multiyork sofas.

My first mood board is all about the mixing of modern clean lines with period features in a home. Imagine the above as an open plan living space. Do you like it?

I’ve picked my favourite light aqua shade (think Tiffany&Co), mixed with bubblegum pinks set against a neutral backdrop.

I’ve chosen the Atlas sofa in Rose Aqua. Its upright posture, contoured silhouette and tufted back makes it the perfect fit for a combined period with modern look.

Multiyork-grey-1My second mood board is all about colour blocking.

After all, mixing and mismatching colours are big this season.

I think when colour blocking a room, it’s best to keep the larger pieces of furniture in a neutral tone. The bright accent colours can come from the decorative accessories, soft furnishings or smaller pieces of furniture, such as that red swivel chair in the photo above.

I’ve chosen this sumptuous grey blue Dunwich sofa, in Athena Sky fabric. It’s the perfect greyish neutral tone, against which brights will pop.

Other ways of introducing blocks of colour, could include painting a corner wall or adding wall art.

Bring the look of nature indoors to create that organic feel. Try fresh green succulents grouped in ceramic pots on a tray, or pebble brown blankets made of cotton and linen.

I like the shade of blue to create calm. In my mood board above, blue runs through the decor. From the striped tray holding the potted cacti, to the blue stripe across the pillow on the bed and the Cameron Nordic fabric of the Abbington sofa.

Hope you have enjoyed this post. Has it spurred you on to think about redecorating for Spring?

Have a lovely, happy week.

  1. Well, I don’t really ‘do’ colour, but a comfy grey sofa with hints of colour around it could just about be doable 😉

A comfy grey sofa will for sure be totally at home in your lovely new place Carole 😉

  2. I’m opting for the third look this year G. If only I could keep a plant alive! I guess there’s always faux lol x

Can’t wait to see Carole, I know what you mean about keeping plants alive, difficult in this weather, that’s why I always opt for low maintenance succulents 🙂

  3. lovely post, I think the last look is definitely me! I do love a grey sofa 😉
