A Superheroes birthday party.

Superheroes-birthday-party-photo-by-Geraldine-Tan-Little-Big-BellIt was that time of the year again for a birthday party.

I often have all these grand plans for styling a party, but time seems to catch up on me so quickly. Is it like that for you too?

With my busy schedule, it was difficult to plan. I knew it had to be done quickly and somehow still look good.

My son was turning ten and he wanted a sleepover party with some of his best pals.

I decided at 2 weeks before, that I should at least send some ‘save the date’ emails. His party was during the Easter break.

I didn’t bother with fancy invitations and that worked really well.

The replies came back quickly and totally put me at ease, because I knew no matter how the party turned out, his friends will be there.

Time then passed since the email invites, and I still hadn’t decided on the party theme.

It was lucky how things worked out in the end.

My son loves the DC Comic heroes, and I was over the moon to find out that the ‘Superman vs Batman’ film was being released around the same time as his party.

Even better, a brand new cinema had recently opened up on our local high street and was showing the film.

So it was going to be a Superheroes birthday party.

At one week before the party, I quickly ordered some party ware online. I kept my fingers crossed that they would arrive on time, and luckily they did, with a day to go.

My final saving grace was the Balloon Time Helium tank I had at home. The ability to blow up Helium balloons at short notice meant that the decor and party games were sorted.

I inflated 10 Helium balloons to match my son’s age, all in bright Superhero colours ( image above). Such a simple and effective way to decorate the display table.Super-hero-party-photo-by-Geraldine-TanI arranged the words Happy Birthday on a light box I had previously purchased from Molly Meg. The superhero theme party boxes were from Party Pieces.superhero-party-by-Little-Big-BellI loved the smell of popcorn popping in the microwave. We placed them in these cool ‘Pop!’ holders and carried them all in a large box to the cinema.

I also decorated these Fruit Shoot bottles with super hero stickers. I thought the boys would appreciate drinking Hero Juice.M&Ms-cake-photo-by-Little-Big-BellMy son got the Salted caramel birthday cake he requested. I decorated the cake with colourful M&M chocolates to keep the bright colour theme going.M&Ms-birthday-cake-photo-by-Little-Big-BellThen added some colourful candles and placed it on a cake stand.Chalk-drawing-balloons-photo-by-Geraldine-Tan-Little-Big-BellRemember I mentioned how the Balloon Time Helium tank was a saving grace?

Well, it really helped with last minute party games.

I inflated a few black balloons and gave the kids chalk pens to decorate them with.

Who is your favourite, Superman or Batman?

The party went really well. The kids enjoyed the film thoroughly. We took them for ice cream after the show as we walked home.

The boys had fun playing other games too. The Nerf gun battles up and down the stairs and X-Box games were also winners.

After dinner, the boys settled down for their sleepover. The basement family room was covered in mattresses.

They watched Wolverine on DVD before all falling asleep.Balloon-Time-Helium-UK-photo-by-Little-Big-BellThe next morning after the boys had some home made pancakes for breakfast, I decided to inflate more Helium balloons.super-hero-balloons-race-Little-Big-BellHere they are, all inflated and ready for a …………..Balloon-race-photo-by-Little-Big-BellBalloon Race.Birthday-take-home-treats-photo-by-Geraldine-Tan-Little-Big-BellA party is not a party without the going home party treats.

They were party boxes from last year’s Laser tag party, but seem to fit in well with this year’s theme and colours.Balloons-hero-partyThat was my last minute superheroes birthday party preparation.

Hope you’ve enjoyed reading about it. Wishing you a wonderful week ahead.
