Back to uni student room revamp on a budget with Matalan.

It’s September, so time for my annual Back to Uni student Room revamp feature.

I think my daughter drew the short straw in university accommodation this year, as she was not present to go accommodation hunting since she was abroad at University in California.

So, this year, this is what we had to work with, compared to the nicer baselines from previous years. To be honest, I’m tempted to replace that horrible stained bed with a new one.

This year, Matalan came to the rescue with their back to Uni “Shelter range”. The range is all about creating a cosy luxe feel, using textures and muted colours that reflect nature.

Without further ado, below is how the room styling went.back to uni student room with Matalan

Here it is. What do you think? I love the blues, a very calming hue like the sea, punctuated with pops of browns ( a very much in season colour this year), seen in the Colour Block Print Colour Rich Duvet cover.

Matching the duvet cover, are the Colour Block Tufted cushions that gives off a relaxed and Boho feel.

I particularly love those blue linen cushions that are £5 each from Matalan too. Those A4 box art frames, also from Matalan are at an amazing £3.50 each. I’ve used them to frame some of my pre-owned prints that my daughter had chosen.

This Uni Room styling is about creating a safe and warm cocooning space to retreat back into for rest and study.

Storage is a particularly important aspect at Uni. Those Grey Pebble Foldable Storage boxes at the end of the bed provide ample room for organising and storage. They are also a great price point of £6.30 each.

Here are more storage ideas.

That Ibiza 2 Hanging storage baskets are great for storing gloves, scarves and hats. We have used that Matalan White Wire Two Tier Storage Basket ( £12.50) as a bedside storage for books, but it would be great for storage in the bathroom too for toiletries.

Before anyone feels alarmed, I need to reassure you that those candles on the storage boxes are faux candles, so not real flames.

There’s so much to find that’ll suit all tastes and budgets at Matalan’s Back to Uni range. If you are still on the hunt for something, then do check it out.

Hope you’ve enjoyed this Back to Uni Student room feature. Wishing everyone a wonderful start to the Uni term.
