I’ve been wanting to add a more grown up character to my bedroom with wall wood panels and wallpaper for quite some time.

I wanted to be more ‘grown up’ without losing the playful, fun aesthetic that I so love.

Here’s my bedroom last Summer, all bright and light.

I don’t see this as child like, but it’s funny how many people have associated this space as a child’s bedroom.

I’ve decided a change was in order. Ta-dah! What do you think? More grown up right, but without losing my fun and happy vibe I hope?

I have based the styling of this bedroom on the Confettis By Nymphea’s Factory wallpaper from 4MURS. This wallpaper is only exclusive to 4MURS

Pink and gold polka dots on a white background is just so fresh, fun and me. Any excuse to add more pink to my home. wall wood panels Here’s the bedroom in its entirety on one side. I’ve styled the bed with colours to compliment the wallpaper.

I’m so pleased with the wall wood panels too. wall wood panels and wallpaper My general aesthetic has always been a combination of period and contemporary.

As I live in a Victorian house, I wanted a way of introducing some period character into my bedroom, but maintaining a modern style at the same time.

Wall wood panels have been a huge trend this past year, and I have been toying for the idea for quite a while. One advice is, if you are going to go for painted wall wood panels, then you could definitely safe costs by using MDF rather than real wood.

If you want more ideas on wall wood panels, then this article from Real homes is useful. This 4MURS confettis design is just wonderful. It perfectly matches the pink I chose for my bedroom wood wall panels, and my standing Anglepoise lamp. bedroom wall wood panels The next thing I’ll need to change is the switches, perhaps to a gold brass colour. Last but not least, I have a couple of rolls of the 4MURS Confettis By Nymphea’s Factory wallpaper left which I will be doing a giveaway on my instagram. Keep an eye out, it’ll be on the 12th December 2019.

Hope you don’t mind this little break from Christmas posting. I will be back soon with a Christmas post soon on how I have decked the hallways for the festive season.

Have a fabulous week ahead.

stylish storage for the bedroom (AD) It’s not easy to find the perfect stylish storage for the bedroom. I’ve been on the lookout for quite some time.

My criteria was for it be of good quality, look fabulous, be colourful and customisable for size and function.

Although we have two huge wardrobes in our bedrooms, a His and Hers, there was still not enough room.

I needed drawers for my trinkets and handbags, whilst my husband needed drawers for his socks and boxers.

Well, as you can see, the wait was over, with my discovery of Tylko’s smart organisation storage system. tylko-stylish-storage Introducing you to Tylko’s Type 02 bookcase or shelving unit in Forest green and mint. Doesn’t this stylish storage for the bedroom look wonderful? Of course, it doesn’t have to be just for the bedroom, it can be placed elsewhere in the house too.

For once, my husband could heave a sigh of relief as it isn’t pink, the colour that is overtaking our home.

Ordering is so easy. Simply measure out the space that you want your storage to go into. Then, go online to configure it with shelves, drawers and cupboards. I have selected all three features. There is a brilliant digital visual tool to help you see the configuration you have designed. I’ve styled my shelves with my favourite things, previously hidden away. Can you spot my Marimekko mug collection?

The assembly of the shelving unit required 2 people, but it was easy, as the instructions were very clear.

The colour coded connectors between the pieces snap securely into place. No tools or screws were needed. stylish storage for the home shelving It’s a beautiful solid piece of shelving unit. The design is so sleek and seamless.

There’s so much attention to detail, like how the drawers and door handles match the unit colours, and sit flush against the edge. It’s so fun to lie on the bed, and just stare at some of my favourite things. My Tylko type 2 bookcase fits the title of stylish storage for the bedroom don’t you think?

The wonderful thing is that it is flat packed, so you can dismantle and move it around if needed. Mine will be staying firmly in that spot from now on. The only thing that may change is the decor on the shelves.

I’ve always wanted to decorate a student university room.

This September, the opportunity arose, as my daughter was starting her undergraduate degree.

Firstly, when you think about university accommodation, do you think of a small dark box with dated furniture?

Indeed, many of the accommodation halls that I’ve visited were like that.

However, I was pleasantly surprised by Birmingham university’s accommodation. Everything was beautifully set up , clean and modern.  In fact, the whole of Birmingham university’s campus is beautiful.

It made me wish I was back at uni. I can only now live vicariously through my daughter.

The room was the perfect blank canvas for me and my daughter to decorate.

Above is the before shot of Chamberlain hall. student university room Here is the after shot.

What do you think? I’m so pleased with how it has turned out, because it feels like home for my daughter. student university room So let’s talk through what are the key elements for creating a cool student university room.

1.Patterned duvet cover and colourful throw.

Bring some joy with a fun duvet cover. Say no to bland, plain duvet covers.

This peaches duvet cover and pink fleece throw were purchased from Urban Outfitters.

2.Cushions.

Definite must haves to accessorise the room. We went for a fluffy sloth and quirky lucky cat cushion. 3.A rug.

We used a small rug that was machine washable to add some texture and warmth to the space. student university room 4.Create a gallery wall.

I helped my daughter pick some of my art prints from home to create this. I’ve removed the glass from the frames, since they were going above her bed.

5.Fairy lights

This is a must in any student’s room to create that zen like ambience after a busy day at lectures.

I’ve secured the fairy lights with Command clear decorating clips that can be easily removed without causing damage or marks to the walls.

6.Neon light.

I expect this is something very much on a teen’s wish list right? My daughter’s light was specially created for her by Sammy of neonpoodle.

Do check out neonpoodle’s site and get those customised orders in now before Christmas. student university room A lovely cosy feel right?

7.Call your parents print

That Call your parents art print from Pedlars has finally found its purpose, held up with Command strips that do no damage to walls. 8.A colourful wall of inspirational quotes.

Colour and positivity is so important for self care and mental wellbeing, don’t you think? I’ve put up this wall of inspirational quotes near her workspace, using Command Spring clips. student university room 9.Photos.

When away from home, it’s easy to miss friends and family, so hanging up their photos can be comforting.

We put some hanging picture frames up using Command brand clear medium hooks.

10.Mirror.

A small wall mirror for putting on lipstick before a party is a must right? I used a Command brand clear medium hook to hold the mirror up. 11.Key and bag tidy

After a night out partying, it could be a mad panic the next morning to find things.

This Command key rail would be perfect for her keys, I’ve picked this medium white Command designer hook to hold her bag. The rail and hook are again easily removable without leaving marks or holes on the wall. student university room My daughter was lucky to get an en suite bathroom with her room.

Here are some of the uni essentials to style this space.

12.laundry basket.

She chose a simple striped one.

13.Toothbrush holder

Her toothbrush holder is from Command too.

You can also use it to hold a razor in the shower.  It’s so much nicer to be able to reach your toiletries when having your shower don’t you think.

14.Bath caddy

This is the Command bath caddy that can hold up quite a few bottles of your favourite products. 15. Towel hook

The ensuite bathroom had quite a few hooks, but you can never have too many hooks.

We placed this Command medium hook next to the basin, so that the towel can be reached easily after a face rinse. So there you go, the student university room makeover. It was so fun to do.

Hope you’ve enjoyed the tips. What do you think? I certainly wished my university accommodation was like this.

Finally, have a lovely week.
