Colourful and scented cleaning products. The method way.

Method-cleaning-products-photo-by-Geraldine-Tan-Little-Big-BellDo you dread cleaning your house and washing dishes? One of those unavoidable routines right?

I say we should bring some joy into those daily chores, with scent and colour the method way.

The method way is all about creating delightful surprises and making things better for people and the planet, whilst doing things in a design-led, colourful way.Method-cleaning-products-1-photo-by-Geraldine-Tan-Little-Big-BellDid you know that that 69% of people felt a bright Summer’s day made them happier than designer shoes and social media likes (survey by Morar).Method-pomegranate-hand-wash-photo-by-Little-Big-BellIn fact over half of people felt happier and more optimistic when surrounded by bright colours.
Method-cleaning-products-photo-by-Little-Big-Bellmethod’s cleaning products are both colourful and smell divine. So divine, that you may not want to stop cleaning. Okay, maybe a slight exaggeration!

I love method’s packaging and the fact that all their products are naturally derived, with biodegradable ingredients.

I find cleaning somewhat therapeutic after a hard day at work.

Colour and scents can only enhance it right? From the lilac coloured multi-surface cleaner that transports you to the scented lavender fields of Provence, to the Amber coloured wood floor cleaner that fills your head with the sweet scent of Almond, to the pink hand wash that smells of Pomegranate fizz and more.Method-floor-cleaner-SouthbankTo mark the launch of ‘the method way’ movement, method brought a colourful surprise to commuters last month at London’s Southbank.

Underneath that ‘Grab a mop + keep it clean’ sign on the floor is a stunning piece of artwork, that has reimagined London in technicolour.Method-people-against-dirty-LondonCleaning products in the trolley ready for the big clean.Method-at-Southbank-the-Method-wayPassers by and commuters were offered mops to clean the floor.

I was there in anticipation of the reveal.Method-cleaning-fun-in-the-rainIt was actually raining that day, which certainly helped with the cleaning.Method-at-SouthBankThose who took up the challenge appeared to be having so much fun,  Method-floor-cleaningeven on a rainy work day.

She goes on to advise on some of the little things in life that we can do to make it happier, such as a digital detox ( very hard for me, but maybe I’ll give it a go when I go off on Summer holidays), smile more even if it is fake ( apparently our brains can’t tell the difference and will automatically release happy brain chemicals), spend more time with people you love and carry out random acts of kindness.Method-3D-artwork-SouthbankHere it is. 1. I love this research that bright colours make people happy! I’m going to use that on my husband next time I want to justify a bold colour in the house 🙂

  2. Karen - Making Spaces

I HAVE to try the “smile more” technique. That sounds really interesting. And good to know all of their ingredients are biodegradable too. I often choose my handwash etc.. based on the colour. I love a pop of red from time to time!

  3. Oh I have used and loved Method’s wood floor cleaner for years now. It smells like almonds and makes the wood shine!!

Lovely reminder of how awesome this company is. Thanks xx

  4. I’ll have to give Method a go. Anything to make cleaning less of a chore I say. x

  5. What a fun, creative idea for a PR stunt! Cute packaging on the bottles too 😉

I know, what a clever creative idea right? Packaging and cool definitely very cool. x

  6. Colourful packaging is definitely more attractive! Method are also collaborating with designer Johanna Basford and I can’t wait to see what design of hers ends up on the packaging.

  7. Cute post Geraldine, although I’m not sure a sunny day makes me feel happier than designer shoes 😉 But what a lovely reveal after all that cleaning.

  8. Ooooh are they Rachel? I love her illustrations. That will be exciting. I think that was a lovely way to introduce people to Method. I bet they had a right laugh mopping up. I loathe cleaning but having good supplies definitely helps

  9. That is so funny. I was only thinking this morning as I was cleaning my shower with bleach- how I would love to try out eco-products for one week in my home and see how they fare. Great post.

  10. I love and use Method’s cleaning products (for both their eco-friendliness and lovely packaging design) – lovely company, and what a fun event to clean the floor and reveal the rainbow, great thinking on their part. Thanks for sharing x

  11. I do love method, we have a couple of their cleaning products at home. It’s definitely easier to complete chores with something more enjoyable to use x
