Dell XPS13 -a review

Dell-XPS-13-photo-and-styling-by-Geraldine-Tan-of-Little-Big-BellIt’s 2 more days till Christmas, and I have just started my short break from hospital work, for the festive period.

December has been very busy for me in all aspects, including blogging. So much to write about in so little time.

My new Dell XPS13 has been a saviour.

Whenever I travel, I tend not to blog, not because I don’t want to, but I found it difficult to edit my photos using my previous laptop. The clarity and resolution of the edited photos were difficult to gauge. I have always just attributed it to small sized images on a small screen, but now I can say I was wrong to assume that.

I must admit, I have never used a Dell before, until now. As soon as I turned my XPS13 on, I was struck by the seamless speed and ease at which it loaded and allowed me to open and navigate through pages. Speed and performance was not compromised by the simultaneous use of multi-media. This may well be down to its new 6th generation Intel core i5 processor.

The other striking feature of the Dell XPS13 was the crisp clarity of images and vibrancy of colours on its infinity display screen. I could at last confidently accept my edited images as publish ready on a 13-inch laptop.Dell-XPS-13-styled-and-photographed-by-Little-Big-BellFunctionality has ticked a big box for me. What about design?

I’m loving the sleek Aluminium shell with its smooth round edges. The rubber padding on its base is such a great idea to keep it scratch free, and from other reviews that I have read, creates an underside space that keeps the computer ventilated and from overheating.Dell-XPS-13-on-Little-Big-BellThe backlit keyboard is a delight to the touch and super responsive.

Last week, when I was discussing with my computer geek, technophile brother in law about my new Dell XPS13 at a family Dim Sum lunch, my sister piped up from across the table to ask what computer we were talking about. My brother-in-law, who has a house full of every single new product and version from the Apple store, actually said “oh we’re talking about the new Dell, this is the laptop you need to get if you need a new one”. That was a massive endorsement from a die hard Apple computer fan! I of course, was secretly chuffed that I owned one.

Dell-xp-13-for-2015Hope you’ve enjoyed this review of the new Dell XPS13 from a blogger who is always on her computer.  The crisp clarity of images and vibrancy of colours on its infinity display screen combined with speed of functionality, in my opinion makes this the must have laptop for 2016.

I will be signing off from the blog now till January 3rd. However, I have a sneaky feeling I may reappear before then.

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and happy New Year. x

( This post was done in collaboration with Dell, All opinions are my own and the laptop was provided by Dell for review.)
