Events Fairs Furniture Trends

Domkapa a luxury furniture brand from Portugal at Maison et Objet 2023.

I’ve just returned from Maison et Objet January 2023 and am excited to share with you my trends forecast, nicely illustrated by Domkapa, a luxury furniture brand from Portugal, that I had the pleasure of exploring.

The theme of sustainable design is still very much on the agenda at the fair.

I think sometimes people forget that “Sustainable“ is not just about reuse, recycle and upcycle, but can also be about quality, durability with a “built to last” mentality.

Domkapa has definitely invested in that mindset with quality, craftsmanship and aesthetics at the heart of their brand.

I love how they pay attention to the finer details of each piece, embracing both ancestral manual techniques and modern day technology.

Their display was a visual delight. It’s like stepping into a Luxury home, one that I would so love to emulate.

The staff on the day were attentive and showed me around all the fabulous new pieces.

Domkapa at Maison et objet 2023This Domkapa bench is called Vincent and is made from synthetic leather and Ash.

I’m currently coveting this for my hallway in my new Paris apartment. I would place it on the opposing wall to our large entryway windows that overlook a beautiful garden.

This bench was just the perfect blend of soft and firmness. I like that it’s a leather material that will age beautifully and will be easy to clean too.

I can visualise the family sitting on it as we get our shoes on, ready for a day of exploration in Paris.

You can see how fabulous its quality is, by the pristine stitching up close.

I currently have an obsession with the brown leather look as I think it portrays elegance well.

Aren’t the Ash legs beautiful too? with its sleek and smoothly carved design.

This would be perfect for my living room. I can imagine lying there after a hard day’s work at the hospital, relaxing as I scroll and interact on social media via my phone.

I love the texture of the fabric they used here. It felt organic, comforting and resilient.

I do love the buckle detail too, and again the leather with wood really embody that Luxury feel I would like to create.

In my opinion, furniture that are adaptable can be a form of sustainable design, as you’d be more likely to keep a stylish and timeless piece that could also serve different functions.

The Avery pouf from Domkapa is certainly multifunctional as a pouf, table and storage solution, with an on trend Bouclé fabric.

I think this is perfect for a family with children, who would still like their home to look beautiful, stylish and pristine. The storage would be great for tidying away the toys.

There are options for more practical wipe clean fabrics too, like the synthetic leather shown previously.

Once the kids are all grown up, then maybe the storage can be used for a throw, for those cosy evenings in whilst snuggled on the sofa watching a film.

This Adley pouf combines a storage solution with a stunning interior leather detail. I was shown this feature by the wonderful staff at the Domkapa exhibit at Maison et Objet.

Don’t you think that even the slim and streamline mechanism for opening the pouf is stylish in its design? It opened easily in one smooth motion and closed quietly too without catching.

I was told that I could customise the pouf with different fabrics, and was excited to explore that option.

As you can see I’ve photographed a selection of their fabrics, but that’s not all they have.Domkapa-samplesFeast your eyes on this beautiful collection.

It’s very much just the tip of the iceberg, as there’s even more to choose from. They have hundreds of different fabrics and finish for their furniture.

A huge thank you to the Domkapa staff at the fair who patiently showed me around the new collection.

Their furniture are super comfortable, stylish and above all will fulfil that Luxury look that I’m planning for my home this year.

The timelessness of their furniture designs will definitely be for keeps. What do you think?

Hope you’ve enjoyed this post from Maison et Objet. I’ll be showing you more of Domkapa’s amazing new collection soon.
