I am so excited to participate in Etsy’s global campaign #DifferenceMakesUs. It’s all about individuality and how certain Etsy pieces could define one’s personality.
I have been spending a fair bit of time exploring Etsy UK, to find those pieces that define me as a person. In doing so, I got pleasantly drawn into that amazing world of pin collection, a trend that is currently taking the creative world by storm.
Designing a pin is such a cool way for a maker to showcase his or her individual style and creativity. What’s even more impressive about this ‘pin movement’ is that sense of community. I’ve noticed makers swopping, collecting and promoting each other’s pins on social media.
Behind the pins are the talents who create more than just pins. They are the Etsy makers who design mugs, cushions, wall prints, jewellery, clothing and more.
I love shopping on Etsy UK for homewares. I have decided to buy those pins I felt would define my style.
Each pin was like a shopping book mark, a reminder that would lead me to explore the other creations by that same Etsy maker.
Let me tell you about the pins that I have picked and how I felt they defined me.
The pink cat with a party hat from ilikeCATSshop typified the colour palette that I love. Yes, I love the pink, that Teal blue and pops of Canary yellow. I love a party too. Many people who follow me on Instagram say that I look like I’m always celebrating. I can’t deny it, I do love organising and styling parties.
The pretzel dog pin by Samantha Eynon just made me smile. I love dogs and definitely wouldn’t mind some pink icing coated pretzels. As soon as Samantha announced she had created this new pin on Instagram, I was there to buy online like a flash. I may well have been her first customer. Was I Samantha?
The macarons pin are by Punky pins. I think those who follow me on Instagram already know this is ‘very me’. Not only do I have a passion for photographing macarons but I love eating them too.
The Frida Kahlo pin is by Becky of SketchInc.. I chose this because Frida is an amazing icon and SketchInc has always been a favourite shop of mine. Becky is so talented with her painting and creations of wooden figures of famous people.
The custard tart and iced gem pins are by Nikki Mc Williams. Who could resist those delicious biscuits? Transports me back to school tea breaks. It’s always the plain Digestive biscuits that get left behind.
This super cute watermelon bag and those fruity pineapple, watermelon and banana pins are by Puptart. To me, these fruits remind me of Summer and the warmth. I am sure you can tell from my bright photography that I am very much a Summer person.
This cute and sparkly smiling purse is also from Puptart.
Don’t you think the pins look great on this denim jacket? Great to wear out or you could display your pins on a child’s jacket, then place on a wall as decor.
Do you spot the Palm Springs house and pink/blue patterned wall pins from Finest Imaginary? I absolutely adore the colourful houses and doors in Palm Springs and I’m super excited to be flying there for a visit early next year.
That pin of the blue green vintage sofa from Peskimo would fit right into those midcentury modern style homes of Palm Springs don’t you think?
I actually have a very similar style vintage sofa with that same colour.
Many who follow me on the blog and on Instagram, know that I love colours and cake. I’m sure it came as no surprise that I simply had to have that rainbow cake pin from Mighty Pop.
My last Etsy curate was all about cacti, so I had to get that cactus pin from This Way to The Circus to add to my collection.
I had a red Speak and Spell when I was young. When I saw this pink version in a pin from Holly Illustrates, I knew I had to have it. Wonder why they never made them in pink? Perhaps it was a worry about stereotyping?
Talking about pink, that ‘Mean Girls’ pink jeep from Shop Sassquatch is kind of cool don’t you think?
I have decorated my pins on a cushion. So versatile aren’t they?
