I was recently invited to the launch party of Heal’s discover: The Modern Craft Market. It was a wonderful event packed full of home grown talent, crafts and creatives.
The market which will run till February 16th, consist of a curated group of independent designers, Royal College of Art graduates and handpicked artisans from the Crafts Councils and Contemporary Applied Arts.
Here are my picks: The contrasting coloured rimmed bowls above by Graeme Hawes.
These faceted glasses by Meret Probst that sparkled like Amber gems.
These milky glass bowls by Gillies Jones are simply charming in hues of light minty blues.
These beautiful and delicate ceramics by Kirsty Adams remind me of the Mediterranean, perfect for a Summer table setting.
Loving the porcelain stoneware bowls by Stuart Carey. The green and yellow bowls, when stacked, would look so sweet together.
Soderlund Davidson’s mix and match candlestick holders are so much fun. You can select your layers and colours for a personalised creation.
Love the sculptural element of Ikuko Iwamoto’s vase and cups, along with their textural dots.
The bold black strokes wrapped around Kyra Cane’s porcelain bowls has that ombre effect that is so on trend at the moment.
I wouldn’t mind one of these colourful pillows by Morag MacPherson. Inspired by vintage fabrics, they have been digitally printed on.
This Kangan Arora cushion in my favourite colour Teal, is on the wish list.
Kezia Regan’s cushion caught my eye for its fresh Spring green painterly effect.

Hi Geraldine, thanks for your post on the combined talent shown at the Modern Craft Market. You do a great job and have a good eye. I loved Soderlund Davidson’s canlesticks and especially the idea that you can create your own unique look from choosing your own combination of clolours and designs! I like! Kyra Cane’s porcelain bowls had a Japanese essence to them that I liked. Perhaps it was that rustic black and neutral palette. I thought the glass bowls by Gillies Jones were very elegant, with beautiful colours. And Graeme Hawes’ beautiful glass bowls with cheerful colour combinations remind me of Swedish art glass.
I could see your attraction to the teal fabric designs!
