Home London 2014 – My Design Picks Out and About

Home-London-2014Hello all! Sorry for taking so long to post. I’ve been busy at the hospital lately, and have had numerous papers to write for our clinical team.

I did however manage to squeeze in the Home show 2014 last Sunday. It was fun to get a sneak peek of the new season home wares.

I will let most of my photos do the talking. Here are my picks:

Molly-Francesca-Home-show-2014-photo-by-Little-Big-Bell

This sweet candy coloured print showing London landmarks is by Holly Francesca, one of Heart Home’s selected new designer.

Kirath-Ghundoo-wallpaper-Heart-home-at-Home-London-photo-by-Little-Big-Bell

Another new designer picked by Heart Home is the talented Kirath Ghundoo. Love her geometric design wallpaper, in pretty pastel tones of mint, yellow and peach. The colour palette is just so perfect for this Spring and Summer.

I’ve just bought a mint coloured sofa and can visualise how perfect this paper would be as a backdrop.

Claire-Murray-Designs-Home-London-2014-photo-by-Little-Big-Bell

More wonderful wallpaper. These are by Claire Murray designs. Love the colourful one with Teal, yellows and fuschia pinks.

Sian-Elin-Heal's-Home-show-2014-Little-Big-Bell

Here we have the colourful work of talented Sian Elin. Her cushions and wallpaper are available at Heal’s, one of my favourite design stores in London.

Yoke-photo-by-Little-Big-Bell

Aren’t those cat prints from Yoke adorable? Those bright splashes of colour bring so much cheer to our current grey weather in London.

Taz-Pollard-home-show-photo-by-Little-Big-Bell

These vessels by Taz Pollard when grouped together are immediately eye catching, beautifully shaped and so unusual. Taz is one of the shortlisted candidates for the COADG bursary.

Fanny-Shorter-Home-show-2014-photo-by-Little-Big-Bell

There are more to these gorgeous patterned cushions than meet the eye. The top two are based on cross sections of human organs. The top one is the kidney and the middle one the brain. These bring back memories of when I was a medical student doing Anatomy.

The designer is Fanny Shorter and she is the winner of the COADG bursary.

Mark-Mc-Ginnis-for-SCP-Home-London-Little-Big-Bell

This jug by Mark Mc Ginnis looks great next to this blanket designed by Donna Wilson for SCP. Thank you to the lovely lady at the stand who allowed me to move her display around to get this photo.

Those minty greens and pinks go so well together. This may have been a purchase for me had it not been a trade show.

Donna-Wilson-for-SCP-photo-by-Little-Big-BellMore commissioned work by Donna Wilson for SCP.

Marimekko-Spring-summer-2014-Home-London-Little-Big-Bell

My love for all things Marimekko continues. It’s so funny that since I’m always promoting it on Instagram, I have had people ask me whether I was an agent for the brand.

This season is looking very sunny with bright yellows and pops of reds. This would be a perfect wake up photo for a rainy day.

Marimekko-cushions-Little-Big-BellHere’s more!  Which cushion do you like?

I’m liking the black, white and green floral one.

Seven-Gauge-studios-photo-by-Little-Big-BellDress your sofa with this gorgeous grey and yellow blanket from Seven Gauge studios. I first spotted this brand at a Heal’s furniture preview show. Perfect for cosy Winter snuggling.

Jennifer-Slattery-table-runner-Home-show-2014

This forks range table runner really caught my eye. So quirky and cool. It’s by Jennifer Slattery. Do check out her website, there are loads more beautiful table linens there.

Bloomingville-home-london-2014-photo-by-Little-Big-Bell

This house shaped shelf reminds me of the one I own by Vitra. This is a cute display by Bloomingville .

Mini-Moderns-Hinterland-Home-show-photo-by-Little-Big-Bell

This is Mini Moderns‘ new print design for 2014 entitled ‘Dungeness’, part of their Hinterland collection.

Keith Stephenson and Mark Hampshire are the talented duo behind the brand. They have recently converted a railway car into a beach house and it is truly stunning. You can see it on Design Sponge.

Mini-Moderns-paint-colour-photo-by-Little-Big-Bell

Mini Moderns have also developed a paint range that colour coordinates with their wallpaper and furnishings. Made up of 90% recycled content, it is also environmentally friendly. I can see the two perfect colours for this season – mint green and teal.

Mini-Moderns-Chouette-pillow-photo-by-Little-Big-BellLove the greens and pale blues of this ‘Chouette’ cushion, also by Mini Modern.

By-Nord-photo-by-Little-Big-BellThese colourful glasses from By Nord caught my attention. Liking the idea of placing a Spring bulb inside to sprout. You can buy them from the lovely Toni of Skandivis.

Ferm-living-candle-holders-Little-Big-Bell

The pink and mint green candle holder from Ferm Living is on my wish list.

Below is a gallery of my picks from the new season’s Ferm Living 2014. Enjoy!

  3. Dear Geraldine, Thanks for your report from the Home London expo, a job you clearly enjoy, but take on with so much enthusiasm and professionalism! It’s hard to pick a favourite out of you selection, but a few standouts, to me, were: the Claire Murray wallpaper, particularly her Champignon design. Fanny Shorter’s Kidney” “cushion – you could never look at it just as a decorative design, if you were to have it in your house! Donna Wilson’s design for SCP ottomans – fabulous patterns. They look a bit like Missoni designs! I always love Marrimekko! Jennifer Slattery’s design of the forks table runner. I love those sort of everyday objects used as graphics! I enjoy Bloomingville’s products. Mini Modern’s Dungeness would look great in a holiday house, or a boy’s room. And Ferm Living’s Pen print for napkins, to me has a Japanese feel. I like!
Thanks again for your report! I enjoyed looking through it!
    Cheers,
    Deborah from Melbourne
