interzum is one of the world’s leading trade fair for furniture production and interior design.
This trade show has just taken place in May 2025 in Cologne.
International suppliers to the furniture and interior design industry gathered to showcase their innovations, network and of course talk business.
Here are 3 of my favourite discoveries and highlights from the interzum show:
1.Hettich official showcased their innovative Furnspin hardware on a square within square base that facilitated free rotation of heavy or incorporated furniture pieces.

Picture large and heavy office pods containing desk and chair rotating smoothly to achieve a multitude of functions, from face to face configurations for meetings to individual private pods for work without distractions.

This technology can also be applied to create rotating cupboards in kitchens and living spaces

interchanging the roles of storage and display with a little turn by hand.
2.Hafele using their magnetic sliding technology to move walls to create multifunctional spaces.

Imagine being able to reconfigure a 18m2 apartment into 36m2 just by using 2 sliding walls. More specifically to create 3 distinct room pairs.
Hafele perfected that optimisation solution, especially great for small space living.

Here’s what their sliding magnetic hardware look like.
3.blum.

blum is the place to look if you want hardware for doors that fold into side pockets. The latter is perfect for creating neat and streamlined spaces.]
blum had also mastered the mechanised one touch technology for furniture doors. Movement to open or close is seamless and easy with the touch of a button or small push.

This would look great in modern spaces, but would equally come in handy as a form of adaptation for people less able to ordinarily perform those functions.
There were so many more innovations to see and explore at interzum. Many I have seen have given me great ideas of how I could renovate my London home.
