Lighting

Statement kitchen lighting to go over the kitchen island and sink area.

kitchen lighting from hvlgIt took me a while to find the perfect statement kitchen lighting to go over my kitchen island and sink area.

This was one of the last three finishing touches I needed to do once my kitchen refurbishment was over.

The first was to fit a colour matched splashback glass over the cooker (now all done), and last to install a boiling water tap ( next blog post).

Anyway, back to the statement kitchen lights.

I knew I wanted something in brushed brass to compliment the brass fittings of my cabinets. It also had to be in a transitional style, so period with a modern twist, just like how my kitchen is.

As you can see in the photo above, I have found my perfect over the kitchen island statement light. It’s the Brigitte pendant light in aged brass from Mitzi.

I love its pared back simplicity and elegance. It certainly has that period feel with a modern twist that I was looking for.

It really creates a focal point and draws attention to the kitchen island as the central hub in that space. kitchen lighting from hvlgThe lights could be dimmed to create a romantic ambience. However, I’ve gone for a non dimmer switch, as we tended to use the island for food prep and doing work at, so a bright light source was the most useful option.

Now for my over the basin lights.

Again, I wanted something striking and in brass to go with my Brigitte pendant light.

As you can see hanging over my kitchen basin area, are 3 beautiful lights in the matching aged brass.

They are the Ivy Pendant lights by Becki Owens for Hudson Valley Lighting Group. They each have a teardrop glass shade mounted by 3 pins, a great design feature.

I’ve placed some mood effect LED filament bulbs in them. When the Brigitte pendant light is switched on, it provides really good lighting for tasks, even at the sink area.

The 3 Ivy lights with their gentle glow provide mood lighting at night.

So pleased to have found the perfect kitchen lighting, and even happier to have discovered Hudson Valley Lighting Group.

I currently have my eye on a few of their other design lights.

Hope you’ve enjoyed this kitchen lighting post. I will be back soon with my final kitchen finishing touch.

Have a beautiful day all.
