Interiors Kids' Room

Little M’s bedroom.

Little M's room

This is my son’s bedroom, one of my favourite rooms in our house. Here is where bedtime stories are told and sweet good night hugs are given. Β It’s also special because little M and I decorated it together.

Previously, his room was a bland white. We wanted to devise a room without the perfunctory blue or the stereotypical themes like football.

We decided on an anchoring colour, that being black and this finished look was gradually built upon over a period of weeks.

His favourite item is the By nord wolf duvet cover and mine the Pia Wallen Cross blanket. Pops of colour from the books in the shelf were introduced to prevent a monotony of just black and white. More accents of colour were subtly provided by the Bianca Gomez prints and Lucky Boy Sunday soft toy on the bed that he named Einstein.

I posted this picture on Instagram and since it was well received, I thought I’d enter it into the Home Love photo contest for Fashion for Home.

  1. Aww, what a sweet post! I’m currently giving my little girl a “grown-up” room (at the ripe old age of three!) and we’re also making design decisions together. πŸ˜€

I detest themes and stereotypical colours too. I think it’s far better to have a room that will grow with the child to avoid constant updating. Looks like you’ve struck the perfect balance!

Good luck with the photo contest!!! x

Thanks Chi, lovely to hear from you. I can already see an amazing room that you and your daughter are going to come up with – unsurprising with such a stylish mother. Looking forward to seeing you soon. πŸ™‚ xx

  2. Great room Geraldine. Loving the “Must Dash’ posters as well as the By Nord linen and Ferm Living laundry bag of course. Good luck with the contest you are definitely in with a chance x

Thanks Toni, He actually went down to his sister’s room to borrow the By Nord penguin cushion I bought from you but she refused to part with it πŸ™‚ His room theme really fits with your shop doesn’t it? Looking forward to seeing you in May xx

Thanks Lena. I must admit that the Lego made its messy appearance after the photo was taken but he loves his room so much. Have a great week and looking forward to seeing you in Berlin. xx

  4. What a lovely room, all calm and peaceful. Love the blanket x

Thanks Annie πŸ™‚ That blanket is my favourite too – on the reverse side you get the inverse colours – black cross on white, so perfect if we need to make the room feel lighter. x

  5. Awww – sweet (and sophisticated). I find it so refreshing and charming to see children’s rooms with non-traditional colors/aesthetic!

Thank you Heidi. Little M is loving his room so much. The great thing I guess with this style is that it doesn’t need constant updating as he gets older. x

  6. Sweet! Black and white makes a great background for the colourful world of kids stuff. Have a good weekend Geraldine x
