Mother’s day gift

Jing-tea-The-White-Company-photo-by-Little-Big-BellMother’s day in the UK is on the 6th of March. It’s made me realise how much I miss my mum. We both lead such busy lives that time often flies by.

When I say my mother leads a busy life, she really does. She’s an entrepreneur, the big boss of her own growing company and she travels often too.

I wanted to give her a special mother’s day gift. It needn’t be anything expensive but I wanted it to be something that she would love

I guess it won’t be much of a surprise if she reads this post. She does read my blog, which makes me really happy. The prompt for her of one of my postings, is when I announce it on Facebook. So I better keep this one quiet.

My mother for as long as I know, loves drinking tea. I decided to get her a beautiful Jing tea set and tea, as her mother’s day gift, from the White Company.Lemongrass-and-ginger-Jing-tea-photo-by-Little-Big-BellSince my mother really knows her tea, I had to pick a brand that I knew would measure up to her standards and so I chose Jing tea. Jing means ‘essence’.

I have met the owner of Jing tea Edward Eisler, and heard him talk with passion, about the tea cultures from where they originate, and on how his team had selected their tea leaves. They source their tea from Asia’s finest.

The White Company now stocks a beautifully curated collection of Jing tea ware and teas. The glass tea set is so beautiful. Happy-mother's-day-gift-from-the-white-company-styled-by-Geraldine-Tan-of-Little-Big-Bell-blogJing glass is something special. It has been hand blown by masters using the purest borosilicate glass. Borosilicate glass is known for its durability, heat resistance, brightness and clarity. Each piece takes four days to produce in 10 to 15 steps to complete. Wow, that is a lot of work.

The elegant glass teapot above holds tea for two and it has a removable coil filter that keeps tea leaves in the pot when pouring.Lemongrass-and-ginger-tea-photo-by-Little-Big-BellSimply adore this glass cup and saucer, and how you can see the pretty hues of the tea against light. It’s just the perfect size for an afternoon cup of tea.

It reminds me of being in Thailand at a luxurious spa, far away from civilisation. Mother's-day-gift-Little-Big-BellHere is cup of Jing Jasmine Silver needle tea, sourced from Yunnan province of China.

It is a white tea made from individual buds scented with jasmine flowers, then separated each morning and fired to remove the moisture absorbed from the flowers. This meticulous process is repeated until the perfect level of Jasmine scent is achieved.

So, what do you think? A great idea for a mother’s day gift don’t you think? Just add a box of colourful macarons and a pretty card. I hope she likes it.Jing-tea-lemongrass-and-ginger-styled-by-Geraldine-Tan-Little-Big-BellFor myself, with my busy up and go lifestyle, I have picked this Jing glass tea infuser mug, also from the White Company. I’m going to start taking this in to work with me.

It comes with a readily removable infuser basket which can be placed on the upturned lid when removed.

I’ve styled the mug next to a cream pom pom ball that I recently made.Mother's-day-gift-idea-scented-candle-styling-and-photo-by-Little-Big-BellFinally, let’s create the ambience of a holiday or Spring, whilst drinking tea and eating macarons. I am totally addicted to the White Company’s new season Lime and Bay candle. It is a beautifully scented fusion of exotic mandarin, pink grapefruit, bergamot, orange, lime and lemon, laced with jasmine buds, limeblossom, ginger and crushed bay leaves. Sounds delicious doesn’t it?

Just also a quick mention, Benares, a Michelin starred Indian restaurant in London is now serving a Jing tea pairing menu until March, so there is still some time left to try it out if you it like. I have sampled it and it was delicious.

Anyway, wishing all mothers out there a happy Mother’s day and I hope you have enjoyed this post. It’s tempted me to go off and make myself a cup of lemongrass and ginger tea.

Wishing you a wonderful upcoming weekend.

  1. Beautiful styling! I had no idea that The White Company sold tea now, so that’s interesting to know. The glass tea pot and cup look very elegant. It would definitely make a lovely gift.

  2. My mum also loves tea, so will definitely have to check this out for her gift!
