Park City in Utah – a beautiful place to ski, shop and eat.

Park-city-utah-photo-by-Little-Big-BellI’m finally getting round to posting some photos from my January trip to Utah. I visited Park City on the second day of my stay in Salt Lake City. It was approximately a half an hour’s drive away.

As Park City’s altitude was at least 800m higher compared to Salt Lake City, a transition in weather condition was expected.

The Wasatch mountains were indeed covered in powdery snow, so beautiful with the brightly painted houses.

Park-City-homes-photo-Little-Big-BellAs well as being one of the prettiest towns, Park City is also one of the wealthiest cities in the United States.

It is home to 3 major ski resorts and hosted the 2002 Winter Olympics. There’s also a large and separate slope for daring snow boarders.

My driver was a wealth of information, he told me that the nearby Deer Valley resort was a Winter playground for the rich and famous, with their holiday homes.

All around, people were busy preparing for the crowd surge that is to come. It was 3 days to go before the quiet town was to host the annual Sundance Film festival.

Red-Banjo-pizza-Little-Big-BellAlong the main street were a great choice of eateries. I was recommended Cafe Terigo for lunch and it didn’t disappoint. I had the most delicious grilled salmon and avocado on mixed greens with a honey mustard dressing, garnished with crunchy onion rings. All washed down with the most refreshing iced tea.

However, the good news is that there are free buses that transport you to the Tanger retail outlet store close by – Imagine J.Crew and Abercrombie and Fitch at 75% off!

What attracted me to Park City were the cute heritage homes like the one above. Love the sweet little porch. Just imagine some peace and quiet, drinking hot chocolate and watching the world go by.

I’m imagining Christmas inside with a log burning fire, sweet scents of oranges, cinnamon and freshly baked bread. Also a beautiful fir tree adorned with twinkling lights. One can dream right?

Park-City-blue-house-Little-Big-BellNow for the visual feast of the other colourful wooden houses lining the streets parallel to the main high street of Park City.

Wishing you all a happy week ahead.

  2. Isn’t Park City great? We visited in the fall a couple of years ago. I loved the quaint main street and colorful houses A special treat was to watch Olympic snowboarding hopefuls train. I’m glad you got to see it in the winter – magical.

It was such a great city to visit and felt like Christmas even though it was already over. I saw those daring snowboarders doing their stunts too, so fearless right?
