Holiday punch bowl recipe

christmas-punch-bowl-photo-by-geraldine-tan-little-big-bell-blogIt’s 5 more days till Christmas. The tree is decorated and the gifts are wrapped. Now it’s time to turn my attention to Christmas entertaining. Cocktails are so in vogue at the moment aren’t they? However when faced with a house full of guests during the holiday season, there has to be a more efficient way to serve them up right? In steps the punch bowl.punch-bowl-cocktail-recipe-little-big-bellI’ve been on the hunt for a punch bowl for a while and when I saw this beautiful large punch bowl from Culinary Concepts, I knew I had to have it.

It’s made of mouth blown glass with a nickel plate and stainless steel rim, stem and foot.culinary-concepts-punchbowl-cocktail-recipe-little-big-bell-copy2016 has been the year of individual cocktails, but I think 2017 should be the year of fun punch bowl parties. There are so many different colourful recipes to create, both alcoholic and non alcoholic.the-punchbowl-party-little-big-bellAs you can see, ahead of Christmas and New Year, we have already been indulging in some festive fun at home.

Every Christmas, we serve up Cranberry cocktails and mocktails. I’m so excited that we can now make them in large batches in my new punch bowl.punchbowl-recipre-for-christmas-partyHere’s the recipe:

Mix 1 litre of Cranberry juice, 2.5 litres of Ginger Ale, juice of 1 freshly squeezed orange and a lime together in the punch bowl. Garnish with sliced citrus fruits and mint leaves. Store in fridge to keep chilled till time of serving.

Freeze the cranberries separately to act as ice cubes for the punch. Alternatively, you could place the citrus slices and water in a donut shaped cake tin, freeze it, then use as decorative ice for the punch.

The recipe above is non alcoholic, so the kids can enjoy it too. For the adults, just fill a glass half full of the punch mixture and then topped with Prosecco or Champagne.the-punchbowl-trend-little-big-bellI’m so excited to serve this holiday punch recipe to my guests.
