Style a shelf in your bedroom. #DoItDifferently

Do-it-differently-by-Carpetright-featured-on-Little-Big-BellCarpetright is currently running a #DoItDifferently campaign, which showcases a collection of Interior design ideas for the home, inspiring people to think about how they can decorate their spaces.

As part of that campaign, I will be showing you how to style a shelf in your bedroom. The latter fits in nicely with one of Carpetright’s features about space saving ideas in the bedroom.

I’m liking the concepts of rotating your wardrobe with the seasons, by vacuum packing clothes away, to create space and also to “Display bits and bobs with pride”.

Although the image above was used to illustrate the need to pack away Summer clothes in Winter.I would like to use it again, but this time turning it on its head, with the opposite scenario of packing Winter greys away for the impending Spring and Summer.

I think the image kills two birds with one stone, illustrating the rotating wardrobe concept and also the display with pride analogy.

I call it ‘A beautiful mess’, just like a pretty abstract painting. Display your Summer brights with pride, even though it is an artistic mess here.Okay, maybe a little neater may be better, but I’m all for the open wardrobe trend. We all do it differently right?Storage-style-bedroom-Little-Big-BellThere’s is no denying that I love shopping for colourful homewares and decorative accessories.

The vibrant colours of the design and shapes from my buys often form an inspirational moodboard.

If you ever visit my home, you will see that I never banish my colourful finds into a dark cupboard. I display them with pride. Here’s one of my colourful messes. Admittedly this is not in my bedroom, but could quite easily be.It’s in my spare bedroom. What do you think?

Perhaps it’s not that messy, as I have taken time over the Christmas holidays to tidy it up.

I think you can guess by now that I have a thing for colourful Kate Spade New York handbags. There are 8 of them on this shelving unit. Can you spot them?

‘Make use of every nook and cranny’. I am definitely heeding advice here by using the top of the shelves for further display.

I have styled the top with inspirational “can do” prints from The Little Green Studio. Can you spot more motivational sayings on the shelves?

There’s “Go team go!!”, “Girls Rule”, “Be Brave” and “YOLO”.Styling-a-shelf-at-home-photo-by-Little-Big-BellThis shelving unit was actually from Ikea and was relatively inexpensive. You can actually add drawers to the shelves, to maximise the use of space and storage of smaller objects, such as jewellery or make up. Colourful-shelf-at-home-Geraldine-Tan-Little-Big-BellCarpetright for their #DoItDifferently campaign, in addition to the clever space saving ideas for bedrooms, has also written posts about “Quirky bedroom interior design ideas” and “Alternative flooring ideas”. Storage-ideas-for-the-home-photo-by-Little-Big-BellIt would be so fun to see how you would #DoItDifferently with your bedroom ideas, using some of the themes above. There is also a chance to win an amazing prize bundle in excess of £600. Take a peek at the #DoItDifferently page for instructions. Let me know in the comments section that you have entered.

I really can’t wait to see and I hope some of you will share your photos on social media.

I now leave you with a wider eye view of my room with the shelves. My daughter loved this shelving unit so much that I have bought the smaller 2×8 shelves version for her bedroom. She now uses it to house her books and larger school folders. We have also converted the top part of the shelf into a dressing table.

Hope you have enjoyed this Interiors related post and the little glimpse into my home. I will be back soon with another colourful post.

Wishing you a lovely week ahead.
