Amara-interior-blog-awards-colour-inspiration-Little-Big-Bell Hi all! I wanted to pop in to let you know that I have been nominated again this year for the Amara Interior Blog Awards for Colour Inspiration #IBA15. I would be ever so grateful if you could VOTE for me here or click on the images.

I am so happy. When I think back, 4 years ago, I never knew I could be or was good enough to be creative.

Growing up, I have always known that I wanted to be a doctor. Science was my forte and I thought the path was clear.

Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love being a doctor and leading a team.

Awaking my creative side had lead me to achieve a lot in medicine too, such as becoming a finalist in the British Medical Journal Awards for Emergency Care.

Amara-Interior-Blog-Awards-vote-now-Little-Big-Bell I have always loved decorating since a young age, but never thought much of this.

Blogging has unravelled something in me which I didn’t know about myself. Being able to express myself with colour has enriched my life and I guess it’s the doctor in me, wanting to give cheer to people who read my blog or follow me on Instagram. Amara-Interior-blog-awards-thank-you-Little-Big-Bell As I hit 30K followers on Instagram this week, I just wanted to also say a big thank you to all who follow me there for their kind support.

I am always so happy when I get to post a colourful image, often on my lunch or coffee break, which hopefully brings those who follow me some colourful joy.

Anyway, I won’t say too much any more. I would love to at least make the shortlist for the awards and I would be so grateful if you would vote for me, if you like my blog. Thank you so much.

Here is the link to VOTE .

Have a lovely week all.

North-London-colourful-home-photo-by-Little-Big-Bell Last week, I was invited by Arlo and Jacob , a cool new brand that sells and specialises in sofas, to the North London house tours. The tour was curated by one of my favourite design magazines, Living etc.

We visited 7 homes in total. This is the home of photographer Debi Treloar, one of my favourites.

Recently, I was also invited to a Colour and Pattern talk by Julia Begbie, the director of KLC School of Design , organised by the wonderful team behind the Interiors blog awards at Amara.

So this was the perfect opportunity to analyse how this house has been decorated.

A striking feature was the use of accent colour. There were three predominant accent colours – Teal, pinks and bright orange.

The Teal accent colour above can be found in the metal chairs and arched wall.

Patchwork-wall-paper-photo-by-Little-Big-Bell I love how colour and pattern has been added to this room by the wallpaper patchwork.

Livingetc-house-tour-with-Arlo-and-Jacob-photo-by-Little-Big-Bell Complementary colours, the two colours that are opposite each other on a colour wheel, create maximum contrast but coexist well.

Red and green are complementary colours whose palette can be expanded by incorporating white to create tints, grey to create tones or black to create shades.

The photo above demonstrates that varying saturations of pinks (tints of red) worked well with different intensities of green tones. Window-seat-London-home-photo-by-Little-Big-Bell This bay window space is positively dreamy yet multifunctional, with its combined seating and storage.
London-home-tour-colourful-stylist-photo-by-Little-Big-Bell Love how textures add visual interest to this corner. Pnk-walls-and-teal-house-tour-London-photo-by-Little-Big-Bell The pink and Teal look great together.  Painted-stairs-blue-photo-by-Little-Big-Bell Isn’t geometrics just great when combined with colour?

I need to reproduce that monochromic strip of blue running up the stairs.

Such a bright and cheerful focal point at the entryway. Floral-mantlepiece-photo-by-Little-Big-Bell Vases of differing heights and colours were filled with fragrant blooms.

Such a great idea to spread the individual stems out in different vases than bunched up on a narrow shelf. Floral-display-wall-photo-by-Little-Big-Bell So pretty, House-tour-London-photo-by-Little-Big-Bell when viewed from all angles. Colourful-dining-room-photo-by-Little-Big-Bell Mismatched, painted vintage chairs here add eclectic charm.

The two accent colours of bright pink and orange would probably clash and cause too much visual noise.

I think the way they have been separated by the white table and powder blue chairs work really well.
Living-etc-house-tours-photo-by-Little-Big-Bell I like the idea of the bench on the opposite side of the dining table as a counterbalance, to stop the table being over engulfed by colourful chairs. Colourful-outdoor-space-photo-by-Little-Big-Bell Such a sweet outdoor space. Accent-colours-photo-by-Little-Big-Bell The orange and blue works so well together.
Livingetc-house-tours-2015-photo-by-Little-Big-Bell When coming in from the outdoor space, the orange accent colour of the chair and mirror frame really draws one’s eyes towards the living room space.

Colourful-eclectic-home-photo-by-Little-Big-Bell Such a cosy area. Livingetc-house-tours-2015-photo-by-Little-Big-Bell The Teal continues. Livingetc-house-tour-North_London-photo-by-Little-Big-Bell The embroidery on the cushions matches the palette of pinks, orange, blues and greens. Upcycled-painted-sideboard-photo-by-Little-Big-Bell An up cycled cabinet in blue. The decorative accessories in the same accent colours of orange and pink. Kitchen-DIY-photo-by-Little-Big-Bell More upcycling. Such a great idea to use these wooden frames as kitchen storage. Livingetc-house-tour-London-photo-by-Little-Big-Bell Shelf details. Colourful-lantern-to-decorate-photo-by-Little-Big-Bell A colourful lantern sits alongside the wooden shelves. Livingetc-house-tours-2015-colourful-kitchen-photo-by-Little-Big-Bell What a joy to do the washing up here with that burst of colour against the wall.

Colourful-storage-photo-by-Little-Big-Bell A shelf to match. Pretty-flowers-photo-by-Little-Big-Bell  That concludes the tour. Hope you have enjoyed the colourful house. Wishing you all a happy weekend.

Happy new week all ! I just wanted to say a huge THANK YOU to my wonderful readers who have supported and voted for me to reach the finals of the Amara Interior blog awards last week.

I am so happy to announce that I WON the award in the Colour Inspiration category, sponsored by Fired Earth.

It was a wonderful cocktails and canapes event at the Rosewood hotel in Holborn, beautifully organised by the team from Amara Living and sponsored by a group of amazing brands.

Thank you too to all who have already congratulated me on my social media channels, the response has been overwhelming and I really am truly honoured.

I will be back later this week, lots of exciting and colourful posts to show you. Have a great day all.
