working from home I thought it would be lovely to provide some decor inspiration to get your home ready for Summer if you are working from home.

Here are my top 5 tips for updating the workspace. working from home decor 1. Declutter

Firstly, for those having to stay home, more than ever, this is the opportunity to declutter.

Admittedly, there is nowhere to dump the stuff, but bagging things away ready to go when the lockdown ends will make life so much easier. home ready for summer 2. Gallery wall refresh

Art prints and frames are still easily available to purchase online and be delivered during this Coronavirus lockdown. home ready for summer In fact, I have done several gallery wall refreshes during my weekends off, for example, my hallway above. home ready for summer You don’t have to spend a bomb to do this. I’ve mainly used old prints that I’ve had in storage and added one or two new ones.

The “Magnifique” print is new, and from Gayle Mansfield. 3. Accessorize your desk.

After a declutter and wipe down, I decided to restyle my desk with a new lamp.

I absolutely adore the elegance of my new Hector 30 lamp from Original BTC, with its classic white bone China shade and brass fittings. 4. New floor coverings

No floor is complete without a bright and colourful rug to usher in the Summer.

As this is hay fever season, you may want to consider a rug that can be easily washed or wiped down.

I have always loved the plastic rugs from pappelina. In fact, I still have the ones I bought from more than 10 years ago.

These aren’t single use plastic products. They are beautiful designs that last a lifetime.

They feel so luxurious and soft to step on, the colours stay vibrant even after many years, and they are so easy to clean too.

These 2 pretty rugs from pappelina are called Piglet ( pink) and Vera ( turquoise). 5.Pastel cushions

These pastel cushions in the shape of shells are from Moi Mili. Aren’t they simply divine? They match the aesthetic of my workspace so well. The cushions are super plump soft and definitely huggable.

So, those were my 5 simple tips on how to get your workspace ready for Summer if you are working from home. Hope you’ve enjoyed it.

Finally, wishing you a wonderful week ahead and stay safe.

How to find a trusted electrician with Amazon Home Services

I have been wanting to get a new feature light installed in my bedroom for a while now. However, I have been putting it off due to indecision and being too busy.

It hasn’t helped that there are so many choices of lighting out there.

I love the brand Flos, and already have 2 of their Glo Ball suspension lights in my children’s bedroom.

Imagine how excited I was to learn that Flos had released a new design, the Flos IC suspension light by the talented designer Michael Anastassiades.

I was instantly drawn to it and wanted to get one in brass. What do you think of it in the image above? Amazon home services My next and largest stumbling block was the installation.

Searching for a good electrician was tough. I’ve had a few hit and misses with electricians in the past.

Since the Flos IC suspension light was an expensive design icon, I wanted someone I could trust to do the job well.

I was recently introduced to Amazon Home Services, a group of thoroughly vetted trade and service providers who can provide installation or assembly support for products bought. They also offer upfront pricing with helpful ratings and reviews from verified customers.

I decided to order my Flos IC S2 suspension light via Amazon, and to try out the electrician via Amazon Home Services. Amazon Home services The whole process was fast and convenient. I just had to specify my postcode, and Amazon allocated me one of their handpicked trusted electricians.

Then all that was needed to be done was to pick a date, preferably a few days after the expected date of product delivery.

I’m pleased to report that the lights arrived in time for the electricians, who were punctual on the day.

I was most impressed with the professionalism of the service. My room was prep with dust sheets and everything was cleared away after the installation too. The electrician explained to me what he was going to do, and took time to position the light to my desired height.

I would definitely not have been able to do this myself.

The process included wire cutting, converting 3 wires into one, sawing the ceiling and attaching the heavy light onto the ceiling joist.

I was so pleased it was done so efficiently and safely. What do you think? I feel it fits in nicely with my interior space. My light now hangs like a moon in my bedroom.

It’s so beautiful and its intensity can be adjusted with a dimmer switch. I’ve specially styled my wall with some beautiful art prints by Rachel Powell, Pati Robins, Holly Maguire and Margo of Margate. I’ve also added a yellow throw to accentuate the brass from the light. This is now my happiest place in the house.  Hope you’ve enjoyed the post. I am so thankful to Amazon Home Services.

I’ve discovered there are so many other possibilities to Amazon home services, there’s even a home cleaning service, and you can check them out on www. amazon.co.uk/services. If you have been putting off a household task due to your busy schedule or because you are not sure how to do it, then I urge you to give Amazon home Services a try.

I would also like to do a special shout out for Polarity Electrics Ltd, who put my light up. They have been such wonderful ambassadors for Amazon Home Services. Finally, I’ll be back with more interior styling at home posts soon.

Wishing you a lovely day all.

How to create the perfect outdoor Summer garden party with Philips Lighting.

Warm Summer evenings are meant to be enjoyed, and even more so, now that I have spruced up my outdoor space. Philips Lighting Last weekend, I decided on an impromptu garden party for my extended family.  We all decided to make a Summer dish each. We had on offer, a spicy herb Cauliflower with olives salad, a Citrus fennel with dried grapes salad and an asparagus, pine nuts with Parmesan salad. We also had kebabs and roast lamb, grilled on the outdoor barbecue.
One of my sisters made a tasty homemade strawberry tart and Summer fruit drizzle cake. I wanted to create the perfect ambience for a chill out party.

I added lots of colourful cushions to the outdoor sofa and a soft throw, for when it got chilly.

As we would be sitting outdoors and chatting into the evening, the outdoor lighting to set the mood had to be right.

I recently installed a pair of myGarden wall lights by Philips Lighting which you can see mounted on the deck wall. The wall lights were LED, in die cast aluminium and glass. They were slim, elegant and gave out a warm glow via the glass plate. This was the perfect soft lighting to set the mood.

The other great news is, that these luminaires can survive the coldest nights, the wettest days or the hottest evenings.  I had decorated the seating area with a variety of flowers and greenery.

I didn’t want to lose the effect of the decor, so I decided to use a few strategically placed Philips Lighting portable myGarden lanterns.

The lanterns came in a variety of colours, and I had them in green, red and white. The lanterns were specially designed for outdoor use and were waterproof. They were also USB chargeable. What’s amazing about the lanterns, were that they had different light modes.

There was the powerful light mode feature which provided a warm, white light. This was bright enough to allow for outdoor night time reading.

The light was also dimmable, to allow mood setting, and there was a candle mode which made the light flicker. I could have sat out in my garden all night. We had a wonderful time chatting and eating a lovely dinner. Look at how beautiful the sky looked that night.

After our guests had gone home, our immediate family snuggled up on the sofa. It was a warm night, but there was a gentle breeze blowing.

It felt so good, just like being on holiday in a warm Mediterranean country. Finally, isn’t it great to know that Philips Lighting LEDs deliver the same light quality throughout their lifetime and save on energy?

Hope you’ve enjoyed the post. Wishing you a wonderful evening.
