The East London Design show 2013 – My Design picks out and about.

Here’s another blog series for the New Year. Its called ‘My Design picks out and about’.

My first feature is from the annual East London Design show.

I’m liking this pretty print by Sarah Hamilton with its coastal feel and light blue palette. Looking at it makes me long for Spring.

The above Nick Fraser terracotta pot was my first attempt at bringing more green indoors.

It was a delight to see more of his work on display at the fair (below).

The pots can be used as light pendants too. Such versatility in design.

How about these Teal coloured, steel piping candelabra, also by Nick? I say the perfect accent for an Industrial interior look.

These wooden Peg figures in monochrome are simply adorable, hand painted by Carrie Hill of  Porter Colline.

Plates by Yvonne Ellen stopped me in my tracks for 2 reasons. Firstly because of my favourite pastel hues of mint and rose and secondly, for the animal illustrations that bring a quirky edge to these vintage pieces.

More favourite colours here. These teacups made me smile. Gin for breakfast anyone? Do take a look at Yvonne’s Folksy shop for more individual pieces.

These Provencal soaps wrapped in paper designed by Emily Maude . They would make charming little gifts.

Here are the sweet and colourful cards

and wonderfully scented Lavender bags by Jessica Hayman of Rosa and Clara designs .

A few cute stacking dolls like these would be a perfect addition for my son’s monochrome room. They are by Wee gallery and can be bought from Molly-Meg.

These light boxes by Leal can be customised with different words. The LOVE one above would be a good contender for a unique Valentine’s day gift.

Hope you’ve enjoyed my picks. I’ll be back soon with my second post for ‘A room in the house’. x

  1. Thanks Geraldine. A diverse and interesting assortment! Several of the selections I liked a lot and it’s always interesting to see the work you alert me to of designers who I may not otherwise be aware of, here in Australia. Loved the black and white stacking dolls, the family of peg figures and the light boxes. Oh, and the gin teacups in retro colours!
    Cheers,
    Deborah from Melbourne.

  4. How wonderful your eye and attention to detail is… I always wonder how you spot these things, I should pay more attention I guess when I’m walking around in fairs and shows. 🙂 I always spot too many things I love and my mind goes crazy then. 😉 But my absolute favourite things here are the hand painted wooden pegs, how adorable for a baby room!! 🙂 I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and New Year’s Eve and I wish you and your family a magical, superb and sparkling 2014!! Maybe we’ll see each other soon? I will be in London for a weekend on January 31st until February 2nd… 🙂
    Hugs, Inge x
