The London Design Festival 2015, 5 colourful design picks.

Here is a sneak peek of my London Design festival 5 colourful design picks. A special little preview for you.

I can’t believe how time has flew and the London Design Festival is approaching again.

Introducing you to my first curated talent, a collaboration between Kirkby Design and Jon Burgerman.  

Kirkby Design was launched in 2009 and stocks a range of beautifully vibrant high performance fabrics that can be used in upholstery and colourful soft furnishing projects.

Their Cobalt blues, bright greens and dusky pinks are a real stand out for me at the moment. Jon Burgerman is a leading figure in the popular ‘doodle’ art movement. For this collaboration, Jon has created 12 designs using paints, crayons, ink, marker pens and paper cut outs to create colourful creatures and shapes. This has then been digitally printed onto the fabric.So fun don’t you think? The colour palette for all the designs are perfect and I’m now desperate to get the sofa above.Here’s some of the bright and colourful Kirkby- Burgerman cushions.Next, is the super colourful brand Kitty McCall, launched by textiles designer Catherine Nice. The chair above is called the Matisse Blue retro Benchair.

It is a collaboration between Kitty Mc Call and Florrie and Bill.

Bold and bright, this cushion is bound to bring any sofa to live.This is the Tropicalia landscape pouf. I can see this fitting in well in my living room. So nice to have a pop of colour to rest one’s tired legs when seated.

Come to think of it, it’s just too pretty for me to put my legs on.This is the Ola Berry Retro Benchair. Great Autumn hues interspersed with brights.My next curated choice is a Japanese design brand Saniyo.

Their philosophy is less is more. Simple ceramics in pastel hues, great when mixed and matched together.Next, is the definitely very shiny brand Penelope Hope. Nadia, who is the designer behind the brand is based in Guernsey.

Her aim was to bring colour, pattern and sparkle to the home. She certainly did that, look at the shiny bright and happy colours.

Metal accents continue to be a strong trend and I think it’s perfect when combined with bold colours in soft furnishing.

Last but not least, is the Salcombe collection by Sarah of Safomasi.

The collection was inspired by her happy family holidays in Salcombe, Devon. The pillows above are called Rockpool, inspired by the English beach at low tide. The other side features a light blue limpet print.This is the Regatta quilt inspired by boat racing around the estuary. Perfect for creating a coastal feel and also for a boy’s room.

That concludes my colourful selection of 5. Kirkby Design and John Burgerman will be showing in Designjunction and the rest will be at Tent London 2015.
