Top 10 London fashion week 2016 trends at David Koma

London-fashion-week-2016-ticket-photo-by-Little-Big-BellLast Sunday, I attended fashion designer to the A-list, David Koma’s Autumn/Winter 2016 catwalk show.

I was kindly invited to cover this London fashion week event by LG UK.

How cool was that? To get to see the new collection of one of fashion industry’s current darling.

Koma’s A-list clients include Gwyneth Paltrow, Lupita Nyong, Gigi Hadid, Megan Fox, Miranda Kerr, Kim Kardashian, Beyonce and more.

I thought it would be fun to compile what I think the Top 10 London fashion week 2016 trends will be from the show. In particular, those trends I think will infiltrate the high street retail scene.

London-Fashion-week-2016-BFC-show-photo-by-Little-Big-BellThe catwalk took place at the British Fashion Council’s show space in Soho. It was at the Brewer Street Car Park, an iconic art deco building that dates back to 1929.

This new central venue since September 2015, has been strategically chosen for its location amongst London’s diverse and vibrant creative community.
London-fashion-week-Hydrangeas-photo-by-Little-Big-BellLG electronics (LG) has for the tenth consecutive season been the official garment care supplier to London Fashion week. They have a dedicated ‘Steam team’ helping backstage.

LG also provides fashion students a once in a lifetime chance to work with their expert garment team. Perfect way to gain insight into the fashion industry’s behind the scenes don’t you think?

I certainly wouldn’t mind having my own personal Steam Team to keep my wardrobe in tip top, crease free, condition. One can dream right?
London-Fashion-week-2016It was so fun to spot the fashion crowd. My eyes were instantly drawn to fashion blogger Maya Williams of Fashion Lollipop blog’s pink coat. I should have asked her where she bought it from, when I chatted to her briefly after the show.David-Koma-AW-2016-photo-by-Little-Big-BellDavid Koma has a background education in fine art. In a recent interview, he talked about his interest in the female form whilst studying art. In 2013, he was appointed as Creative director of french house Mugler.

His current collection has been inspired by the work of artist Frank Cota. There was a strong emphasis on the silhouette with an industrial edge.

He used a lot of textures from Napa leather, perforated wool, pony skin, silk to cashmere felt. The tailoring was certainly sleek, sculptural and feminine.

Now, on to the trends that caught my eye.

Trend number one is the ” Thigh high slit” look, as  recently seen sported by stars such as Taylor Swift.

The only caveat being the need for long and toned legs. I guess Taylor Swift needn’t worry about that.London-fashion-week-0f-2016-David-Koma-AW-2016-photo-by-Little-Big-BellTrend number two is the “Cold shoulder” look.

Forget the nape of the neck, the cleavage or the small of the back. This season’s new sexy is all about exposing your shoulders.

Trend number three is “the polo neck Halter”. The Halter neck always makes a cyclical appearance. This time round it’s not the spaghetti straps halter but high polo necks.David-Koma-1-London-Fashion-week-2016-photo-by-Little-Big-BellIn fact, polo necks seem to be making a huge resurgence and that is Trend number four.

Trend number five consist of shiny metal embellishments to outfits, best contrasted against black, giving that rock chick vibe.David-Koma-London-Fashion-week-2016-photo-by-Little-Big-BellTrend number six, I call “the perforated look”. You can see above for yourself what I mean.

Not sure if I would adopt this trend. I think one needs to be super slim.London-Fashion-week-2016-David-Koma-Little-Big-BellTrend number seven is a bright pop of colour. Electric blue to be precise.

Trend number eight is the asymmetrical “one shoulder strap” look.David-Koma-2016-at-London-Fashion-week-photo-by-Little-Big-Bell-blogTrend number nine calls for “Scarlet or oxblood red”.

Trend number ten features “crystal gems”, Koma decorated his outfits in none other than Swarovski crystals.

That concludes my top 10 trends spotting at the David Koma show. What do you think? Do you have a favourite?

Danielle-Romeril-New-Gen-London-Fashion-week-photo-by-Little-Big-BellAfter the show, I was able to check out the NewGen collections. NewGen is an internationally recognised talent identification scheme created by the British Fashion Council, and sponsored by Top Shop.

Since its inception, NewGen has identified talents such as Alexander McQueen, Matthew Williamson, Christopher Kane, Erdem and more.

Out of all the NewGen designers, the work of Danielle Romeril (above) caught my eye. Love that palm print in green against pink, so in line with current interiors trends too. Her outfits look effortlessly chic and comfortable. I would love to have that green coat on the far left.
Lena-Perminova-London-Fashion-week-photo-by-Little-Big-BellLondon Fashion week is not fashion week, if you don’t do a bit of celebrity model spotting.

This is Lena Perminova in David Koma resort collection 2016. I guess she was one of his front row guests.London-Fashion-week-2016-photo-by-Little-Big-BellNow for some fashion blogger spotting. There was quite an interesting scene outside the show venue.

There were numerous paparazzi  outside, desperate to shoot anyone they thought looked stylish.

Okay, so I ended up joining the paparazzi with my camera. After all, fashion bloggers are trend setters right?

I’m loving this whole outfit by blogger Juliet Angus, with her chunky knit coat and frayed end denim jeans.Emerald-green-at-London-Fashion-week-photo-by-Little-Big-BellI had to chase this Emerald green dress and oxblood red heels. Love the colour combination.Pink-1-at-London-Fashion-week-photo-by-Little-Big-BellI had to slip this photo in because I adore the colour of that coat and handbag. Pink is the all season colour for Little Big Bell.London-fashion-week-2016-swag-bag-2016-Henry-Holland-photo-by-Little-Big-BellLast but not least, got to show you this year’s London Fashion week swag bag which has been designed by Henry Holland.London-fashion-week-2016-top-ten-fashion-trends-photo-by-Little-Big-BellHope you have enjoyed this London Fashion week 2016 trends post. 1. Great LFW post Geraldine – you’ve really captured the atmosphere and I love that pink at the end!! Your top ten is really unique too…quick snips of what we’ll need in our lives this season:) Thanks!

  2. That Henry Holland swag bag is lush. It’s something I’d wear on a day to day ha! Perhaps not as sophisticated as that gorgeous pink bag but my style is a big more laid back 🙂

  3. Oh what fun!! Looks like a really exciting day!

  4. Oh gosh, I think I need to grow a foot in height and shrink by a stone in weight to seriously consider most of these. Oh to be blessed with more favourable genes!! The electric blue, I think I can get away with, though. I love that colour.

  5. What a fun day you must have had Geraldine. I’m not really into fashion but these are all a lot tamer than I was expecting. Some of them I would even consider to be wearable
