mother's day Did you know Mother’s day in the UK is on Sunday 11th March? I thought it would be fun to do a Mother’s day gift post, in case any of you are looking for ideas.

As you can see, I have a desk full of goodies here. They are gifts that I have recently received ( with no obligation to post), but since I love them so much, I thought I’d share.  How about some beautiful hardback books as mother’s day gifts?

I absolutely adore coffee table books, and I’m sure if you follow me on Instagram, you will have noticed my growing collection on my coffee table.

I would like to extend a huge thank you to Hardie Grant books for sending me this wonderful selection. If your mother loves Interiors then you’ll have to buy her Kit Kemp’s ‘Every Room Tells A Story’ .

I have always been a huge fan of interior designer Kit Kemp, and love how she boldly mixes colour and patterns together. Her book is certainly a visual feast not to be missed.

For mothers who love to cook, I would highly recommend Sicily by Katie and Giancarlo Caldesi. The book unearths the most beautiful local Italian dishes straight from the largest island in the Mediterranean.

If you have a mother with a sweet tooth and a penchant for travelling ( actually that sounds like me), then ‘The Desserts of New York’ is a must. I can’t wait to explore all those delicious and insta worthy spots when I next go to New York.  For fashion lovers, I simply adore ‘ The Art of Stripes’ by Libby Vanderploeg. I mean, look at the cute cover in pink and red.  I never knew there were so many ways to wear stripes and look stylish at the same time. You can never have too many candles right?

The ones by Miller Harris are a perfect mother’s day gift. Not only do they smell delicious, they come in such cute and colourful jars and packaging too.

Miller Harris have asked me which ones are my favourite, so far it’s a tug of war between the sweet citrus scent of Tangerine Vert and the blackcurrant pear scent of Cassis en Feuille. In case you were wondering about those beautiful plates and milk jar I have used for flowers, they are from Cath Kidston’s Park Wildlife Home collection. The whole collection is gorgeous. I have my eyes on the bunny set too. If your mum is really into beauty, then how about these blushers from Benefit Cosmetics.

The Galifornia golden pink blusher is amazing for a little warm California glow to a Winter’s skin, whilst dandelion gives off a beautiful shimmer.

For fans of Benefit’s Porefessional face primer, I’m loving the new Pearl primer with its additional brightening effect for a radiant look. ( It helps that the tube comes in my favourite pink colour too) mother's day cookies Last but not least, how about a delightful tin of mother’s day bouquet luxe biscuits from Biscuiteers?   The tin contains 16 hand iced biscuits, inspired by the traditional language of floriography. The flowers represent grace, patience, kindness and a mother’s love. Tea time can never come sooner for me with this tin of biscuits at home. They are too pretty to eat too, but that hasn’t stopped me. They also have Gluten free versions, and you can order them online, to be sent straight to your mother. Hope you’ve enjoyed this post. It’s been so fun sharing this with you.

Hope you’ve managed to find something from here, that your mother would like too. I know I would love to receive these gifts on mother’s day.

Wishing you all a wonderful start to your week.

Jing-tea-The-White-Company-photo-by-Little-Big-Bell Mother’s day in the UK is on the 6th of March. It’s made me realise how much I miss my mum. We both lead such busy lives that time often flies by.

When I say my mother leads a busy life, she really does. She’s an entrepreneur, the big boss of her own growing company and she travels often too.

I wanted to give her a special mother’s day gift. It needn’t be anything expensive but I wanted it to be something that she would love

I guess it won’t be much of a surprise if she reads this post. She does read my blog, which makes me really happy. The prompt for her of one of my postings, is when I announce it on Facebook. So I better keep this one quiet.

My mother for as long as I know, loves drinking tea. I decided to get her a beautiful Jing tea set and tea, as her mother’s day gift, from the White Company. Lemongrass-and-ginger-Jing-tea-photo-by-Little-Big-Bell Since my mother really knows her tea, I had to pick a brand that I knew would measure up to her standards and so I chose Jing tea. Jing means ‘essence’.

I have met the owner of Jing tea Edward Eisler, and heard him talk with passion, about the tea cultures from where they originate, and on how his team had selected their tea leaves. They source their tea from Asia’s finest.

The White Company now stocks a beautifully curated collection of Jing tea ware and teas. The glass tea set is so beautiful.  Happy-mother's-day-gift-from-the-white-company-styled-by-Geraldine-Tan-of-Little-Big-Bell-blog Jing glass is something special. It has been hand blown by masters using the purest borosilicate glass. Borosilicate glass is known for its durability, heat resistance, brightness and clarity. Each piece takes four days to produce in 10 to 15 steps to complete. Wow, that is a lot of work.

The elegant glass teapot above holds tea for two and it has a removable coil filter that keeps tea leaves in the pot when pouring. Lemongrass-and-ginger-tea-photo-by-Little-Big-Bell Simply adore this glass cup and saucer, and how you can see the pretty hues of the tea against light. It’s just the perfect size for an afternoon cup of tea.

Jing-tea-at-the-white-company-photo-and-styling-by-Geraldine-Tan-Little-Big-Bell Here is cup of the Jing Lemongrass and Ginger herbal tea infusion that I made earlier. It reminds me of being in Thailand at a luxurious spa, far away from civilisation.  Mother's-day-gift-Little-Big-Bell Here is cup of Jing Jasmine Silver needle tea, sourced from Yunnan province of China.

It is a white tea made from individual buds scented with jasmine flowers, then separated each morning and fired to remove the moisture absorbed from the flowers. This meticulous process is repeated until the perfect level of Jasmine scent is achieved.

So, what do you think? A great idea for a mother’s day gift don’t you think? Just add a box of colourful macarons and a pretty card. I hope she likes it. Jing-tea-lemongrass-and-ginger-styled-by-Geraldine-Tan-Little-Big-Bell For myself, with my busy up and go lifestyle, I have picked this Jing glass tea infuser mug, also from the White Company. I’m going to start taking this in to work with me.

It comes with a readily removable infuser basket which can be placed on the upturned lid when removed.

I’ve styled the mug next to a cream pom pom ball that I recently made. Mother's-day-gift-idea-scented-candle-styling-and-photo-by-Little-Big-Bell Finally, let’s create the ambience of a holiday or Spring, whilst drinking tea and eating macarons. I am totally addicted to the White Company’s new season Lime and Bay candle. It is a beautifully scented fusion of exotic mandarin, pink grapefruit, bergamot, orange, lime and lemon, laced with jasmine buds, limeblossom, ginger and crushed bay leaves. Sounds delicious doesn’t it?

Just also a quick mention, Benares, a Michelin starred Indian restaurant in London is now serving a Jing tea pairing menu until March, so there is still some time left to try it out if you it like. I have sampled it and it was delicious.

Anyway, wishing all mothers out there a happy Mother’s day and I hope you have enjoyed this post. It’s tempted me to go off and make myself a cup of lemongrass and ginger tea.

Wishing you a wonderful upcoming weekend.

Mum-print-from-Jealous-gallery-and-print-studio-featured-on-Little-Big-Bell Today is Mother’s day in London. I had the most amazing surprise gift from my children this morning.

It was the ‘Mum’ print above that they bought from Jealous gallery and print studio.

It fits in perfectly with the colours of my workspace and so in line with my aesthetic. It makes me happy that I will be seeing this every time I sit at my desk.

As it is mother’s day today, I would like to introduce two very special guests.

First up is Jojo, my 14 year old daughter, who will be blogging with me today and possible monthly.

What makes me delighted about this, is that when I first set up Little Big Bell, the intention was to blog with my daughter. Her Chinese middle name means Little Bell, hence the name Little Big Bell. Me being Big Bell.

My second special guest is the talented artist Kristina Hultkrantz of Emma Kisstina, who has illustrated the contents of both Jojo and my handbag. She is one amazing lady and you will see what I mean soon. You can read all about her here.

A-doctor's-bag-Little-Big-Bell I recently purchased a bright pink Kate Spade Hayden, so when Kristina approached me to draw my handbag, I was most excited.

What do I carry in my bag? The stethoscope is unsurprising, since I am a full time doctor. However, I do tend to leave it at work most of the time.

Kate-Spade-Hayden-bag-1-Little-Big-Bell Here’s what I carry when I go to blogging events.

Missing, is my DSLR camera, which I was using. What’s wonderful is that the Hayden bag is big enough to accommodate it.

Bando-in-my-bag-Little-Big-Bell I am always in a rush, so early morning coffee on the go is essential. My coffee cup is from Bando.

I now carry a pink pen for a reason. I’m not sure why, but as doctors working within the Accident and Emergency department, the most commonly lost item is one’s pen. Perhaps it’s because all our pens look the same and so may be picked up by mistake.

So far, the pink pen has lasted a month and is still going strong.

What's-in-my-bag-Little-Big-Bell A portable mobile charger is essential for any blogger and I’m loving my pink and gold one.

I don’t wear my Pop and Fizz shoes at work, but I always keep a comfortable pair of flats I change into after work, as I do a lot of walking rather than driving.

Little-Big-Bell's-bag Here’s everything in my bag. Chanel lipsticks are my favourite and I was lucky to sample the new collections this season before they hit the market.

I’m also adoring my Bobbi Brown Pot rouge which can be used for both lips and cheeks.

Now, to reveal Kristina’s beautiful drawing of my bag and its contents.

Little-Big-Bell's-blogger-handbag-drawn-by Kristina-Hultkrantz How amazing is this? It only took her I believe, a day and a half to draw. I am so in love with it and can’t wait to receive my personalised print.

Kristina is able to do custom drawings of your bags and contents too. Here is the link to her Etsy shop.

Instagram-@stylewithjj-featured-on-Little-Big-Bell Now, to introduce my sweet teen, J. I took this photo of her when we attended the London Fashion weekend catwalk shows. J will be co-blogging here about teen fashion and lifestyle.

Toni-and-Guy-braids-on-@stylewithjj-featured-on-Little-Big-Bell Here’s her hair braided by the talented stylists at Toni and Guy during London Fashion week.

Anyway, without further ado, I hand the keyboard over to Jojo now to tell us about her handbag and its contents.

Teen-blogger's-bag-style-with-jj-featured-on-Little-Big-Bell-blog Thanks for the introduction! Hi, this is J.

My pink Eau de Parfum bag is from Next. I think pastels are very much in fashion this season. As well as being useful, it is a super stylish accessory!

My Ted Baker purse again follows the pastel trend. The rose gold clasps on the purse are a favourite! Shimmer and shine was a predicted trend at the London fashion weekend catwalks, I saw a lot of Rose Gold.

My eos lip balm above is a no brainer to keep in my bag! It is one of my favourites for  fresh minty lips.

Next-Eau-de-parfum-handbag-and-Bando-Little-Big-Bell I always keep some kind of perfume in my bag and the Harajuki perfume is super cute with a sweet summer scent.  The girl’s pastel pink hair is also so cool!

Style-with-jj-handbag-print-by-Kristina-Hultkrantz-on-Little-Big-Bell It’s now back to Geraldine! Thank you Jojo for your short and sweet little post.

Here is the beautiful drawing that Kristina has done on my daughter’s bag and its contents. I was so excited when she sent me the two finished drawings. It is always such a pleasure to discover and promote amazing talents. Thank you so much Kristina.

Hope you’ve enjoyed the post today. Wishing you all a wonderful week ahead.
