Sophie Conran for Portmeirion Sophie Conran for Portmeirion Colour Pop tableware.

Last Summer, I was invited to visit Sophie Conran’s home, to see her new Autumn Winter homewares collection.

It was so lovely to meet Sophie in person, and I was also excited to be given a sneak peek of her new Colour Pop tableware collection for Portmeirion.

As you can see, it wasn’t difficult to get excited, when presented with such a pretty pastel sight. Sophie Conran for Portmeirion During the weekend, the weather was rather grey, and I felt a colourful cheer was much needed in the kitchen for our Sunday family lunch.

I found the perfect antidote for that dark Autumn’s day, in Portmeirion’s Colour Pop tableware collection. We also lit the fireplace for the first time this year, and the whole space started to feel really cosy.

It was as if the sun had suddenly reappeared .  I love how you can mix and match the pastel hues, to create your own combinations. They reminded me of the gorgeous ice cream coloured Art Deco buildings on the seafront of Miami’s South Beach. Don’t you think this Colour Pop collection would make a wonderful Christmas gift for someone special?  I must admit I felt like an excited kid being let loose in a candy store, when I was unboxing these pretty pastel plates. The quality of the porcelain from this collection is wonderful and looks really elegant too.

What’s amazing is how sturdy it is, being fully microwave, oven, dishwasher and freezer safe. I’m so pleased to have my very own Sophie Conran for Portmeirion collection. I really felt like Christmas had come early for me. I will most definitely be using them daily from now on. You too can own your own Sophie Conran for Portmeirion Colour Pop tableware collection. It’s now available to buy from John Lewis.

Below is a list of the range shown in this post:

Sophie-Conran-plate-Little-Big-Bell A few weeks back, I sampled some amazing Tapas in sunny Barcelona. Longing for more, I decided to recreate that holiday feeling in our back garden.

This was also the perfect opportunity for me to try out the recently launched John Lewis After Dark Edit home collection.

For a Mediterranean feel, I decided to use the blue and white Florence Side plates by Sophie Conran, which perfectly complimented my gold cutlery from Zara Home.

Remembering the beautiful Bougainvilleas that lined the streets of Spain, I styled the table with fragrant pink sweet peas.

Spanish-Tapas-chilli-garlic-prawns-Little-Big-Bell My husband was the cook for that evening. The Tapas were served on vibrant and colourful Al Fresco plates from John Lewis.

The first dish he made was Garlic, Coriander and chilli infused King Prawns. Here’s the simple recipe:

Chop fresh garlic,  Spring onions and chillis. Sautee all in a pan, then add prawns, garlic pepper and chopped Coriander. Garnish with more fresh Coriander when finished.

It was delicious!

Sophie-Conran-for-Portmeiron-styling-and-photo-by-Little-Big-Bell I injected a little bit of Emerald green into the table setting with my Design House Stockholm glasses and napkins from Designer’s Guild

Patatas-Bravas-Recipe-by-Little-Big-Bell The next dish was Patatas Bravas, a Tapas staple and one of my absolute favourites.

Here’s the recipe: Chop potatoes into small pieces, par boil for 5 minutes then mix it with some olive oil and place onto a tray and into the oven.

Fry some onions and garlic together, then add a tin of chopped tomatoes along with some seasoning of pepper and paprika. When the sauce is ready, pour it over the roast potatoes and pop back into the oven for another 5 minutes. Serve with Mayonnaise and chopped Parsley.

After-Dark-Edit-John-Lewis-copper-bowl-Little-Big-Bell Just so we felt like we were somewhere warm, I added a green succulent plant in a Matt Copper bowl.

I love the reflective earthy tone of Copper contrasted against the lighter gold from the cutlery.

Spanish-frittata-recipe-Little-Big-Bell Last recipe is a Spanish Frittata : Slice potatoes finely and par boil for 8 minutes. Soften onions in a pan and then add potatoes. Cook for 5 more minutes. Beat eggs in a bowl and season with salt and pepper.

Place the potato and onion into the bowl of beaten eggs, mix, then transfer all back to an oiled frying pan. Cook until firm. Serve with slices of spicy Chorizo sausages and add chopped herbs.

Spanish-Tapas-by-Little-Big-Bell Here they are all together. I have added some green olives on another plate.

John-Lewis-After-dark-edit-with-Tapas-plates-Little-Big-Bell We sat, ate and chatted. It really felt like we were on holiday. I styled the seats with blue Ikat rectangular outdoor cushions and we even had a sunshine yellow chunky knit throw to use when the sun went down and the cool evening breeze blew.

Hope you’ve enjoyed this post. It’s a long Bank holiday weekend here in the U.K, so I thought this could inspire you to have some Mediterranean fun outdoors. Happy weekend!

Bronte-by-moon-Herringbone-throw-from-John-Lewis-styled-by-Little-Big-Bell I was really excited when I saw the muted pastel tones within the John Lewis Natural Texture Edit collection.

They were all my favourites, from duck egg blue to dusky pinks and minty greens. Inspired by the colours, and after a not so small shopping trip, I decided to style up a further curated collection at home.

That Duck egg Bronte by Moon Herringbone throw is so soft, and such a sweet contrast against my pink Ercol chair.

I also love how the pink tones on the Southwold cushion is accentuated by the chair.

John-Lewis-Natural-textures-edit-styled-and-photographed-by-Little-Big-Bell So you can see why it wasn’t a small shopping trip. Not content with just one pillow from the collection, I also bought the larger Haze cushion.

After all, they look great together as a pair. Loving the artwork on them too. Impressionism is the new bold painterly strokes of last season.

Mint-sofa-Little-Big-Bell Here’s all my favourite colours together on my mint Designer’s Guild sofa.

Desk-styling-by-Little-Big-Bell ‘Always do what you are afraid to do’, a saying after my own heart. This beautiful inspirational card (and many more in the photos below), was a lovely gift from Eva Jorgensen, owner of Sycamore Street press.

This Frankie oak task lamp, also from John Lewis, got my vote because it exuded a relaxed vibe that paired perfectly with pastels, such as this pale blue Croft pen pot.

John-Lewis-Croft-range-Natural-Textures-edit-styled-by-Little-Big-Bell Styling with colours, shapes and textures are one of my favourite things to do to unwind. Mixing softer tones with brighter shades is so much fun.

I have converted this putty coloured Croft mug into a plant pot and love how the introduction of a very neutral tone with foliage is able to further soften the look of pastels.

Sycamore-Street-press-card-styled-by-Little-Big-Bell In true Little Big Bell style here, we have the marriage of candy brights and muted pastels.

Colourful-storage-boxes-Little-Big-Bell Playing with pastel tones here, mixing patterns with my boxes from Hay of Denmark.

What do you think of Honore de Balzac’s quote?

Croft-collection-mugs-John-Lewis-styled-and-photographed-by-Little-Big-Bell I must say, I am absolutely smitten with the Croft collection at John Lewis. Just look at those chalky shades on the mugs. Even the colour names sound divine, Lake Blue and Clover.

Did you spot my new mug stand? It was the Teal that did it for me.

Decorate-with-indoor-plants-at-home-Little-Big-Bell I never got round to showing you all the greenery I acquired from the Red magazine and Joy of plants event that I helped style last weekend. So here’s a peek.

The beautiful box of succulents were specially created for me by the talented Ian Drummond of Indoor Garden Design.

I have styled my plants with this tall green crackled pitcher vase which reminded me of sunny Thailand. I remembered buying Celadon pieces from Chiang Mai many years ago and this vase brought back happy holiday memories.

Decorate-your-own-cupcake-party-Little-Big-Bell Those who follow me on Instagram, know that there is always a party in the Little Big Bell household. So when I saw the Croft collection Arundel pinch pot paddle tray, I instantly knew what I was going to use them for.

Sprinkles and toppings came to mind. Perfect for a make your own cupcake or ice-cream topping party.

Colourful-sprinkles-cake-2-Little-Big-Bell Talking about sprinkles, I thought I’d end the post with my son’s birthday cake from last week.

Wishing you a wonderful start to your week.
