I am so honoured to be one of the 12 bloggers specially selected by West Elm UK and Teri of The Lovely Drawer to style up a Christmas table as part of The 12 days of Christmas project. I am Day 12, the final day.
You can also follow an interview I did with The Lovely Drawer and a feature of this and all 11 stylings on West Elm’s Front + Main blog.
I was given free rein to style however I pleased, using some of West Elm’s new Winter season products.
Last year, I styled a West Elm Christmas day breakfast table. This year I thought I’d host a Christmas tea party for the 12 Days of Christmas, except this party has no tea, just bubbly. Why not right? It is the season to be jolly. For those who have followed my blog or Instagram for a while, may have an inkling that I adore pink, gold and shades of blues.
As much I love classic red for Christmas, I have decided to go for my favourite hues.Naturally, I chose flowers of pinky shades too. A little bit of blush and small pops of fuchsia.I found these Raffia placemats in gold on sale. I just couldn’t resist them.
My table seated four people comfortably. I felt four gold placemats together may be too bright, so I punctuated them with these dusky pink part linen Rosette placemats that have been woven with a hint of sparkle.I introduced blues into the setting with floral blooms, small votive candle holders and jewel coloured vases.Pinks, blues and yellow golds. How do you think they look?
The good thing about not using conventional colours of Christmas is that you could re-use this look for other occasions. New Year’s eve is not that far round the corner right? Change the colour of the flowers, and you have an instant new look.
That personalised biscuit was specially made and sent to me by Nila Holden. Great name place setting idea don’t you think? This brass wishbone that I found in West Elm is such a unique and festive add to the table. It subtly spells Christmas. I used it as a napkin ring, but you could also scatter it around the table as decor.
Do you have a snapping the Turkey wishbone tradition in your household?
I hear it all started with the Romans who used to pull chicken clavicles apart in hope for good fortune ( not quite sure where that idea came from).I used white linen napkins that came with a little festive shimmer for the place settings. It was intentional that I decorated my table in no set order. The napkins were styled differently at each place setting, the side plates were scattered, some to the side and some layered with the larger plates.
To me, festive means fun with no set rules.Love the minty green of that bottle of bubbly. Almost too pretty to open, but hey, I need to get my priorities right.
What kind of Christmas party is it if you were just munching on mince pies with no sparkly to wash them down with? When I saw this tiered plate server in pink, black and white with gold trims, I knew it had to be mine. Perfect for girly tea parties or rather the perfect excuse for eating cake. The plates that I have used for my table are by Fishs Eddy from West Elm. Yummy indeed! No party can be without cake.Cake won’t taste nice if they weren’t served up in pretty plates with gold lettering. Here’s the table again. The brass letters adorning my table can all be bought at West Elm too.
Hope you’ve enjoyed my happy Christmas tea party table. I’m so in the mood for Christmas now.
Christmas for us a family is always to be spent at home. We host each year and family members near and far converge to our home.
How will you be spending Christmas?
Have a great day all.
